Artist Crafter Carla Sullivan
A Native NH born and Nashua resident for the past 35 years is where my husband and I raised our 3 girls. We now reside in one of our favorite places in the Lakes Region in Moultonborough, NH. My father Carlo Ripaldi “PaCarlo Paintings” with his love for Art, was a huge influence on my creativity, he himself a new age Picasso, along with my mother Joan who still plays a big part in my artwork today. She is my hunter for old tools and pieces for my artwork. With a big family and little money, she taught me to be resourceful. When my children grew older and life started to settle down. My creativity rekindled and just came flowing out. This is when I started to do the local shows and Joined the Nashua Area Artist Association, City Arts Nashua, and currently a new member of The Bedford Craftworkers’ Guild.
I have worked with different mediums throughout my life, wood, paint, glass, metal, stained glass and a little electric and plumbing. My love in finding inspiration in old, run down, rusty vintage items has always been a passion of mine. Welding rusty old tools and family heirlooms into Sculptures and Signs. Turning old carpenter tool boxes into ice chests, herb boxes, bars, picnic caddies, planters. Having way to much fun! and just can’t stop.
My art and craft is my way to be creative in a therapeutic manner, while allowing me to share the beauty that is possible by giving new life and new beginnings to the downtrodden, the throwaways and forgotten treasures.
As one of the few growing prominent female Artist Welders in NH, I feel I am opening a new world in a field dominated by men. My work can be seen all along the East Coast of Maine to Florida in specialty shops.
With art, comes change– with what I enjoy working with and pieces change, but my work is one of a kind, the ideas of the pieces can all be created and customized at your request, especially in my items for the home. Just ask!
